Angelina Jolie wants to ‘end the fighting,’ and ask Brad to drop the lawsuit

The long-drawn-out legal battle between Hollywood superstars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt over their French winery, Château Miraval, has taken a new turn. Jolie’s lawyers are now asking the court to compel Pitt to respond to their allegations and provide documents related to his demand for an expanded non-disclosure agreement (NDA) as a condition for buying out Jolie’s shares in the property.

In the latest motion filed by Jolie’s legal team, they claim that Pitt’s insistence on the NDA is an attempt to “cover up his abuse” of Jolie and their children. The documents allege that Pitt’s “history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles,” and that the incident on the flight “marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well.”

However, Pitt’s lawyers have denied the allegations, stating that it was Jolie and her team who had requested the “broader” NDA, not him. They have vehemently rejected the abuse claims, calling them false.

Jolie’s lawyers have stated that she is asking Pitt to “end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing.” They argue that unless Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Jolie has no choice but to obtain the necessary evidence to prove his allegations wrong.

The legal battle over Château Miraval, the French winery that Jolie and Pitt bought in 2008 and were 50-50 partners in until 2021, when Jolie decided to sell her share, is at the heart of this ongoing dispute. Pitt sued Jolie over the sale, arguing that it went against their previous agreement that he would buy out all her shares.

In April 2024, Jolie’s lawyers filed a motion asking the court to compel Pitt and his legal team to provide a response and documents that explain why the actor made the condition for the sale of Miraval contingent on Jolie signing an expanded NDA.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016 after two years of marriage. They share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. The divorce and custody battle have been highly publicized over the years.

Jolie’s lawyers have stated that she is not surprised by Pitt’s alleged attempts to “punish and control” her through the NDA, and that she has “no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong.” However, her ultimate goal seems to be to “end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing.”

The legal battle between Jolie and Pitt over Château Miraval has become increasingly complex, with allegations of abuse and attempts to control the narrative through NDAs. As the dispute continues, both parties appear to be driven by a desire to protect their interests and reputations, while Jolie also seeks to move forward and heal her family. The outcome of this case may have lasting implications for the former Hollywood power couple and their children.
