This Movie Star Hid His Brain Tumor, Fearing He’d Die, While His Wife Was Carrying Their Baby

In the glamorous world of Hollywood, where fame and fortune often take center stage, one couple’s remarkable journey stands out as a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the unwavering human spirit.

The story begins in 1998 on the bustling streets of Los Angeles, where a well-known Hollywood actor crossed paths with the woman who would forever change his life. He recalls the moment he laid eyes on her, knowing instantly that she was the one he would marry.

“All I had was my decency, wit, and charm — I didn’t have anything. When I met her, she was like, ‘You don’t have a driver’s license, you don’t have a credit card. What’s wrong with you, dude? I can’t be with you!'” the actor remembers, laughing at the memory of their initial encounter.

Despite his humble beginnings, living in a converted garage and lacking the material trappings of success, the actor’s charm and determination won over the heart of his future wife, Sunrise. She saw beyond the surface and believed in his boundless potential, even before he had achieved the fame and fortune that would one day be his.

As their love blossomed and they welcomed their first child, Keen, into the world, the couple faced a devastating challenge that would test the very foundation of their relationship. The actor, known for his roles in beloved films like “Dark Waters” and “13 Going on 30,” was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

“I had this crazy dream that I had a brain tumor. I just woke up, and I just knew that I had a brain tumor. There was no way that I didn’t…” the actor confessed, his voice tinged with the memory of that harrowing moment.

The tumor, the size of a walnut, was located behind his left ear, and the medical professionals warned him that the surgery to remove it carried a 30% chance of him losing the motor and function of the left side of his face. Faced with this daunting prospect and the impending birth of his first child, the actor made the difficult decision to keep the news from his family for weeks, fearing the worst.

It wasn’t until a week after Keen’s birth that the actor finally revealed his secret to his family. Two weeks later, he underwent the risky surgery, terrified that he might not survive. “I was certain I was going to die,” he admitted, his voice trembling.

Miraculously, the tumor was benign, and the surgery was a success. However, the actor did lose hearing in his left ear and experienced paralysis on the left side of his face for a time. His equilibrium was also thrown off, causing him to fall frequently.

But the ordeal gave him a renewed sense of life and purpose, teaching him to appreciate the most important things in life – his family. “The experience gave me a whole new lease on life,” he shared, his eyes shining with gratitude.

Today, the actor is happily married to his wife of 24 years, and together they have raised three children – Keen, Bella Noche, and Odette.

“So happy we found each other and held on for dear life through everything that came and has left,” the actor expressed, his words a testament to the unbreakable bond he shares with his wife.

For the Hollywood legend Mark Ruffalo, there is nothing more important than his family. As a devoted husband of 24 years to his beloved wife Sunrise Coigney and a proud father to their three strikingly similar children, Ruffalo’s priorities are crystal clear. His kids – Keen, Odette, and Bella – are the true center of his universe, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

When Ruffalo and his wife welcomed each of their three children into the world, it was immediately apparent that the kids were virtual carbon copies of their famous father. With their thick, dark, and curly hair, kind brown eyes, and laid-back demeanor, Keen, Odette, and Bella are the spitting image of the renowned actor.

Interestingly, when each child was born, Ruffalo and Coigney initially had no names for them. The actor explains that while they had selected a few potential options for Keen, none of them felt quite right. Instead, the couple found themselves scrambling to settle on a name before the hospital rushed them along, threatening to choose one for them.

For a time after their children were born, the Ruffalo family opted to leave the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles and settle in the small town of Callicoon, New York. There, Keen, Odette, and Bella attended Montessori school and grew up immersed in a tight-knit community that Sunrise Coigney says “ticked off all the boxes” for her family.

As the wife of a busy and in-demand actor, Sunrise Coigney bears the brunt of the responsibility when it comes to tending to their three children. Ruffalo is quick to acknowledge her as a “hero” for the way she seamlessly manages the household and family life.

When it’s his turn to step in as the primary caregiver, Ruffalo readily admits that raising kids is no easy feat, despite his wife’s apparent effortlessness. He jokes about how the mere task of doing the family’s laundry is enough to “destroy a parent.”

Despite the challenges of fatherhood, Ruffalo remains steadfast in his commitment to his family. He and Coigney have found a way to strike a delicate balance between their Hollywood careers and their roles as devoted parents, ensuring that their children always come first.
