Small, 2.5 cm, silver case/box. I have had it at least 50 years and I have never known what it is…

The questioner mentioned:

Modest, 2.5 cm, silver situation/box. I have had it at the very least 50 a long time and I have in no way acknowledged what it is. Feasible hematite inlay on the lid and sides that appears to be like worn. Hinge is just a brass loop. Clasp is broken. Compact handle on every side. Prolonged tale as to how I bought this detail.

Some of the responses:

  • This seems rather shut to the exact design and clarifies what looks like a thing you’d set a string as a result of, building it wearable… I swear I didn’t just invest 30 minutes obsessed with searching, haha
  • Snuff or chaw tobacco circumstance?
  • Seems to be like a Rouge pot.
  • Is it deep adequate for a pocket watch mechanicals inside of? Is it possible that it is 2.5 inches across?
  • Tablet box. Maybe rouge but they weren’t normally this good except industrial ones wherever you could buy very little refills.
  • It seems like a classic Indian inlay trinket box. Sort of like this but yours is monochromatic and hinged.
  • It does search like it could have been worn on a wrist. The opposing loops could be for a strap or ribbon. Maybe it held mints or medicine?
  • My title describes the detail. I have carried out an graphic search but I could not discover just about anything specifically like this detail. I was operating at a car or truck vendor 50 decades ago and an individual located this in the trunk of a new car beneath the carpet. It was completely black so I cleaned it up. I was informed when it may possibly have been part of a belt but I do not know what place it could be from.
  • A makeup compact probably? For deal with powder?
  • Wrist-worn box for strong finger tack/rosin, for somebody who turns a good deal of internet pages/counts money? My SWAG, in any case.
